← Full Jump to Front Support Mount skill breakdown
Learning it — First exposures — slow, spotted, full support.
Front support holds on a low beam — 3 x 10 sec
From a stand at the beam, press to a straight-arm front support: thighs against the beam, shoulders directly over the hands, body in a hollow line. Hold without shrugging.
Look for: Straight arms, shoulders over hands, no shrug, hollow body.
Jump to front support on a low beam with a spot 👤 Spot
With a board at a low beam, athlete punches off the board and presses to front support. Coach stands beside with a hand at the hips to control the height and prevent over-rotating onto the beam.
Look for: Controlled punch, arrives in a stuck straight-arm support — no swinging or kicking up.
Jump-and-stick onto the beam 👤 Spot
Drill the arrival: punch off the board and freeze in support rather than continuing into the next skill. Builds a controlled arrival.
Look for: Sticks the support immediately, body still.
Full mount on competition beam, spot fading 👤 Spot
On the regulation beam, perform the mount; coach fades from a hip touch to watch-only as the arrival becomes controlled.
Look for: Confident punch to a stuck, tall front support.
Building it — Reps and consistency once the shape is owned.
Straight-arm front support holds — 3 x 15 sec
On the floor or a low rail, hold a straight-arm support in a hollow body. Builds the shoulder and arm strength to arrive stiff, not collapsed.
Look for: Locked arms, shoulders pushed tall, flat line.
Board/box jumps to a stuck stand — 3 x 8
Punch off the board onto a low box and stick the landing tall and controlled. Trains the punch and arrival control the mount needs.
Look for: Powerful punch, dead-stop stuck landing.
Dips and push-ups — 3 x 8
Build the pressing strength so the support holds without the shoulders sinking.
Look for: Full range, straight body.
Polishing it — Competition-ready cleanup and connections.
Full jump to front support mount in a routine
Athlete performs the mount onto the competition beam at the start of a routine, arriving in a stuck front support. Spot only as needed.
Look for: Controlled punch, tall stuck support — competition ready.
Don't just read it — coach it.
